Our wheels use a standard 60 degree conical seat lug nut. The thread pitch of the lug nut depends on the year, make and model of the vehicle. All sellers (online and other) will start by asking for vehicle information in order to supply the correct lug nuts. To order an installation kit direct from us please call 800.260.2522.

Here's some stuff about lug nuts...
Most of today’s modern wheels use a standard "acorn" seat lug nut. An acorn lug nut has a 60-degree taper that fits into a matching conical recess in the wheel's lug hole. Some vintage wheels may require a mag shank lug nut and washer but that is uncommon and would be evident by the lack of taper on the lug hole.
Lug nuts vary in size, taper, style and thread pitch. Your new wheels are designed to be installed with standard acorn seat lug nuts. The thread pitch required is based on the vehicle application. Most online searches with year, make and model will provide the proper thread pitch but check with your local dealer if you’re uncertain. Although the seat of the lug nut may be conical, the style of the lug nut may vary based on the design of the wheel and/or the vehicle application. The two most common lug nut options are the Hex Nut and Spline Drive.
Hex Nut
The hex nut is the most common type of lug nut. It features a hex shaped head utilizing a traditional socket style wrench for installation. Hex nuts have different sized hex options (17mm, 19mm, 21mm and 22mm) so it’s always a good idea to check the factory wrench for compatibility. A four-way lug wrench is a great way to ensure wrench compatibility with the lug nuts.
- "Standard" acorn lug nuts should be used for passenger and light truck applications.
- "Duplex" acorn lug nuts should be used for ¾ and 1-ton truck applications
Spline Drive
This type of lug features the same conical seat but utilizes spline grooves outside the length of the lug which require a special “spline tool” for installation and removal. The requirement of a unique tool reduces the risk of stripping the lug nut and minimizes the risk of theft. Gorilla spline lugs are one of the most popular brands of spline drive lug nuts.
ET Lugs
Toyota and Lexus utilize a special conical lug nut with an extended “shank” that helps center the wheel on the hub. Failure to use ET lugs on these vehicles may result in a ride that is not smooth. ET lugs are also useful when stud length is an issue such as with the use of a spacer. Note: ET lugs nuts are also available in spline and open end options.
Open Ended
Open-ended lug nuts are short and do not have a closed end. This allows you to run the lug nut on longer wheel studs without the stud hitting the end of the lug which prevents it from seating properly. An open end lug nut may also be required for some wheel designs where the cap covers the lug nuts. Taller lug nuts may not allow the cap to attach properly. Note: Open ended lugs nuts are also available in spline and ET options.
Tuner Nuts
Some wheel designs have very small lug hole pockets which do not allow a traditional socket or spline key to fit. A tuner style allows installation and removal with the use of a key that fits inside the lug nut. These are typically associated with race wheels and provide an enthusiast aesthetic.
Lug Bolt
Many European cars use lug bolts to fasten the wheel to the vehicle. Basically, the lug bolt is a combination of the stud and lug nut. It’s important to note that many factory wheels installed with lug bolts use a “radial” or “ball” seat. As stated, most aftermarket wheels are acorn seat and are not compatible with OE lug nuts.
IMPORTANT! The lug nut type and thread must match the wheel and application. Failure to use the proper lug nuts and/or torque may create a vehicle vibration and can cause the lug nuts to loosen over time resulting in wheel failure. If you have experienced lug nuts becoming loose it's important to see a dealer or contact us to discuss any potential risks.
